Devitt’s Cemetery, regulated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, is compliant with all provincial regulations and legislation. In addition, it is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals, and maintains its status as a charity through the Canada Revenue Agency. The present day cemetery is owned and operated by a volunteer trustee board of directors consisting of members of the families buried there. It is a small, active cemetery containing the graves and markers of individuals and families buried between 1860 and 2023, located in a quiet rural setting approximately 8 kilometres southeast of Blackstock, Ontario. The landscape of Devitt’s Cemetery exemplifies a typical, small nineteenth century rural burial ground. The inscriptions on many of the grave markers, along with the Cemetery register and surviving records, provide a genealogical reference resource.The Cemetery has about 90 full size burial lots and thirty cremation lots available for purchase.
